Open TYB Board Positions for 2020 Season

There are a number of positions available on the Tewksbury Youth Baseball Board of Directors for the 2020 season. Nominations will take place at the next TYB Board Meeting on August 15. All nominations must be in-hand by that date. Please e-mail the current Board of Directors at board@tewksburyyouthbaseball.org with any questions or nominations. The Board will convene on August 15, 8 p.m., at the Baseball Building on Chandler St.

The following Board Positions are open for election / re-election for the upcoming 2020 season.

PRESIDENT - Currently held by Wayne Freitag
The President shall act as the chief executive officer of the League and shall be responsible for the enforcement and application of all rules, policies and regulations adopted by the Board and further, the President shall: (a) Conduct the affairs of the League and execute the policies established​ by the Board; (b) Present a report of the condition of the League at the Annual Meeting; (c) Communicate to the Board such matters as he/she deems appropriate, and make such suggestions as may tend to promote the welfare of the League; (d) Be responsible for the conduct of the League in strict conformity to the policies, principles, Rules and Regulations of Babe Ruth League, Inc., as agreed to under the conditions of the charter issued the League by that organization; (e) Designate in writing other officers, if necessary, and to have power to make and execute for and in the name of the League, such contracts and leases as may be in the best interests of the League after the approval of the majority of the board members; (f) Investigate complaints, irregularities and conditions detrimental to the League and resolve such in such manner as will be in the League’s best interest after consultation with the board, or to report thereon to the Board as circumstances warrant; (g) Prepare and submit an annual budget (with the assistance of the Treasurer) to the Board for and be responsible for the proper execution thereof;

SECRETARY – Currently held by Deb Rocco
The Secretary shall: (a) Be responsible for recording the activities of the League and maintain appropriate files, mailing lists and necessary records; (b) Perform such duties as are herein specifically set forth, in addition to such other duties as are customarily incident to the office of Secretary or as may be assigned by the Board or the President as the case may be; (c) Maintain a list of all members, Directors and committee members of the League, the Board and all Committees and make the list of members available to regular members upon request. (d) Keep the minutes of the meetings of the members, Board of Directors and thereafter cause them to be recorded in a book to be kept for that purpose; (e) Shall conduct all correspondence not otherwise specifically delegated in connection with said meetings and shall be responsible for carrying out all orders, vote and resolutions not otherwise committed; (f) Notify Members, Directors, Officers and Committee Members of their election or appointment, as the case may be.

PURCHASING AGENT/EQUIPMENT MANAGER – Currently held by Steve Powers
The Purchasing Agent/Equipment Manager shall: (a) Secure the needed supplies, uniforms and equipment as required by the League, and make recommendations for purchase of same to the board; (b) Be responsible for the proper issuance, maintenance, and collection of such equipment throughout the calendar year.

PLAYER AGENT – Currently held by Danielle Holloway
The Player Agent shall: (a) Designate in writing other officers, if necessary, and to have effective planning, proper player distribution and placement and efficient operation. (b) Turn registration fees paid over to the Treasurer as they come in; provide detailed reports of registration status/activities, fees paid and owed and other pertinent information (c) Record all player transactions and maintain an accurate and up- to-date record thereof; (d) Receive and review applications for player candidates and verify residence and age eligibility; (e) Coordinate tryouts, player auction or draft and all other player transaction or selection meetings with the appropriate division rep(s) (f) Notify Babe Ruth League Headquarters of any subsequent player replacements or transactions; (g) Properly handle any complaints and or problems that may from time to time occur with players. (h) Have the authority with the approval of the board of directors or authorized sub-committee to remove any Player Member from a team roster for any conduct the Player Agent deems detrimental to the league or a team or another player. The Player Agent shall notify the Board and team manager of any Player Members so removed.

DIRECTOR OF SENIOR, MAJOR,  AAA LEAGUE BASEBALL DIVISION(S). – Currently held by Rich Russo
The Director shall: (a) Report any misconduct of any individual, manager or player, to the Board, or President for disciplinary action; (b) Report any problems with the grounds, playing equipment or supplies the President, or; Board, for remedial action; (c) Perform such other duties as are customarily incidental to the office of Director of Senior, Major & AAA League Baseball Divisions, or as may be assigned from time to time by the Board or by the President, as the case may be.

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR – Currently held by Steve DiPalma
The Tournament Director shall: (a) Research to identify and be the primary point of contact for external tournaments that the league may choose to participate in. (b) Make recommendations for Board approval any external tournaments. (c) Plan and organize tryouts, player and coach selection, and registration for tournament teams. Recommend managers for Board approval for all external tournaments (d) Organize and manage any tournaments that will be hosted by the League, including but not limited to promotion, registration, and scheduling. (e) Prepare in consultation with the President a schedule of games and practices for non-Babe Ruth League tournament teams in every division in which there are said teams, and be responsible for scheduling of games and practices for all Tournaments approved by Board (f) Perform such other duties as are customarily incidental to the office of Director of Tournaments, or as may be assigned from time to time by the President or the Board of Directors.

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS – Currently held by Tyler Welch
The Director of Community Relations shall: (a) Designate in writing other officers, if necessary, and to have (b) Develop partnerships and programs with the local business community (such as the signs sponsorship program), that are beneficial to the overall objectives of the league. (c) Provide the board monthly updates detailing these activities and submit appropriate receipt and monies received to the treasurer. (d) Perform such other duties as are customarily incidental to the Director of Public Relations position, or as may be assigned from time to time by the Board or by the President, as the case may be.

DIRECTOR OF LEAGUE COMMUNICATIONS – Currently held by Chris Rattey
The Director of League Communications shall: (a) Be the primary person responsible for all league communications to members. This is included but not limited to a regularly published email newsletter, announcement for league activities such as board meetings, try outs, registrations, etc. (b) Ensure that appropriate and current information is published on the league website.

The following positions were appointed during the 2019 season. These positions need to also be nominated and voted on.

SAFETY OFFICER – Currently held by Adam Fowlie (This is an even year appointment)

The Safety Officer(s) shall: (a) Be responsible for ensuring that all equipment and playing fields shall be in such condition as to permit safe play. (b) Be responsible for development and implementation of a safety awareness program (c) Perform CORI background checks on all league volunteers and ensure that all are approved before they are able to participate in league volunteer activities (d) Serve at the direction of the President or the Board, as the case may be, and shall perform such other duties as are incidental to the position of Safety Officer.

MEMBER AT LARGE – Currently held by Jamie Galanis
This position will need a description for the 2020 season. This position will be a 2 year position added toodd years.
