TYB Divisions

Tewksbury Youth Baseball age cutoff date is April 30th.  All registrations should be based off of your child's age as of April 30th of the season you are registering for, not their age at the time of registration. Click here for the league's age eligibility chart.

TYB LEVELS AND DESCRIPTIONS

Below is a basic summary of which ages are eligible for each division.  Please see more detailed information for each division below the summary.

  • 13-16 year olds may register for our Seniors division only.  They are not eligible for any other division.

  • 11 and 12 year olds are required to register for our Majors Division.  After attending evaluations in the fall and following the Majors draft, some 11s and 12s may be moved into the AAA division depending on their skill level.  Parents may also contact our Majors rep to obtain a waiver to play down in the AAA division (waivers are subject to board approval and not guaranteed).

  • 10 year olds may only register for the AAA division.  They are not age eligible for any other division.

  • 9-year-olds are eligible to register for either AAA or AA.  All 9s are encouraged to register for AAA and attend AAA evaluations in late fall/early winter.  Any 9 year old that is not drafted onto a AAA team will be moved into the AA division.

  • 8-year-olds are eligible to play in AA.  They are not age eligible for any other division.

  • 7 year olds are eligible for Minor Farm (coach pitch).  Please note that 7s that have an advanced skills set may also play up in AA, pending evaluation.  In order for a 7 to play up in AA, they must attend AA evaluations.  Any7 that attends evaluations and is found to be below the skill set required to play in AA will be placed in the Minor Farm division (partial refund of registration fees will be issued). Any 7 that registers for AA and does not attend evaluations will automatically be placed back into our Minor Farm division.

  • 6  year olds are eligible for Minor Farm (coach pitch)

  • 5 year olds are eligible for T-Ball

  • 4 year olds are eligible for Clinic.

Please note that parents and guardians that have concerns or questions over division placement based on the below information should contact their division rep directly.  Players that play up or down a division must obtain a waiver to do so.

*Please note that our 2026 Season will likely begin in early April, rather than after April vacation for most, if not all, divisions.

Game-day schedules are subject to change from year-to-year.  We try to stay consistent with game days from year-to-year, however, schedules are based on the number of teams we have in the league, as that determines overall field availability.  As such, the game days that are noted below for each division may be subject to change prior to the start of ths season.

Division Information

SENIORS (13-16YO)

The Senior league, for ages 13 and above, is the highest level where individual teams are coached by adult volunteers.  These games are fast-paced and competitive as the players demonstrate the full effect of their development through our program.   Games are officiated by patched umpires that have been formally trained by local umpiring associations.
Seniors Schedule: Seniors games are typically played on weekday evenings,  Monday-Thursday.   Our Seniors game schedule is largely dictated by player availability pending the THMS baseball schedule, and specific days of the week cannot be guaranteed ahead of time.
Seniors Cost: $200, which includes $15 town user fee.

MAJORS (11-12YO)

The Majors league is a highly competitive league which closely follows the rules established by Cal Ripken Baseball.  Players at this level are ages 11 and 12 years old.  Games are officiated by patched umpires and are played on a 50/70 diamond
Majors Schedules: games are played on Wednesdays and Fridays.   Makeup games will be scheduled on Mondays. Occasional games may fall outside of these set days, depending on weather-related scheduling changes or other extenuating circumstance.  Monday and Wednsday games are typically played at 6:00pm, with Friday games being held at either 5:00 or 7:30pm*.  Practice schedules are determined by coaches.
Majors Cost: $200, which includes $15 town user fee.

AAA Minors (9-10YO)

In AAA, the game becomes more competitive than they were in AA and rules begin to more closely align with those of Cal Ripken Baseball.   Games at these levels are officiated by teen umpires trained within our program
AAA Schedule: AAA games are typically played on Tuesday evening and Friday evenings.  Make up games will be held on Thursdays*.  Practice schedules are determined by coaches.
AAA Cost: $200, which includes $15 town user fee.

AA minors (8-9YO)

In the AA division, our young athletes begin to pitch with some modifications (for example, coaches will step in to pitch should walking a batter result in a run).  This division is best suited for 8 year olds and developing 9 year olds, but it open to 7 year olds that demonstrate a strong enough playing ability to play up in this division.   AA games are officiated by team coaches in conjunction with teen umpires.
AA Schedule: AA games are typically played on Wednesday evenings and Saturday evenings*.  Practice schedules are determined by coaches.
AA Cost: $200, which includes $15 town user fee.

MINOR FARM / COACH PITCH (6-7YO)

The minor farm league is an instructional league where players aged 6-7 have an opportunity to learn more about the game of baseball and build on their skills from T-ball.  This level is also commonly referred to as “coach pitch” as youth do not pitch in this league.  While players will continue to build upon their foundation skills, focus starts to shift from skill development towards understanding game-play.  Games are played with modified rules to maximize opportunities for success.
Minor Farm Schedule: Minor Farm starts early-April and goes through early June, with typically two games per week with one additional practice a week.   Games are typically played on either Monday or Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.*  Practice schedules are determined by coaches.
Minor Farm Cost: $180, which includes $15 town user fee.

T-BALL (5YO)

T-ball is a skills-focused developmental division where players age five are introduced to the fundamentals of baseball in a fun and low-pressure atmosphere.  This division is evenly split between skill development and introducing the basics of game-play.  For the majority of the season, T-Ball will consist of 1 practice/week and 1 game/week.  Towards the end of the season, schedules will shift to include 2 games/week for additional game-play.   Each practice/game will last 60-90 minutes.
T-Ball Schedule: T-ball starts early-April and goes through early June.  Games are played on Saturday mornings, with additional games on Thursday evenings towards the end of the season.* Practice schedules are determined by coaches.
T-Ball Cost: $130, which includes $15 town user fee..

CLINIC (4YO)

Clinic is a skills-focused developmental division where players aged four are introduced to the fundamentals of baseball in a fun and low-pressure atmosphere.   This division is almost entirely focused on skill development.  Players will be divided into groups and each group will go through various stations - hitting, throwing, base running, and catching - at every session.  The end of the season may include a few scrimmages to introduce the players to the flow of a baseball game.
Clinic Schedule: Sessions start early-April and goes through early June.  Clinic meets once per week on Monday evenings. Towards the end of the season, Clinic will also meet on Thursday evenings in addition to Mondays.*  All sessions will last approximately 60 minutes.
Clinic Cost: $100, which includes $15 town user fee.
